Equal Pay Policy

Fife Council is committed to the principle of equality of opportunity in employment and believes as part of that principle that all employees should receive equal pay for work of equal value. The Commission for Equality & Human Rights (previously the Equal Opportunities Commission) defines equal pay as the right to equal pay for the same or broadly similar work, for work rated as equivalent and for work of equal value between men and women. These fundamental principles are enshrined both in European and UK law. Fife Council believes that it is in the Council's interest and good business practice to ensure that pay is awarded fairly and equitably based on objective criteria.
